Fred L. Herman graduated from Loyola University School of Law in 1975. He was a partner with the law firm of Herman, Herman, Katz & Cotlar through 1987, a civil litigation and general civil practice firm. He established the Law Offices of Fred L. Herman in 1987, with a special emphasis on litigation, business transactions and alternative dispute resolution. He served as Chief Negotiator for Tom Benson for the acquisition of the NFL - New Orleans Saints. He also served as legal advisor to Rob Couhig in his sale of the New Orleans Zephyrs minor league baseball franchise.
He is a Lecturer at Loyola University School of Law, Skills Curriculum, and was on the Tulane School of Law Trial Advocacy Faculty. He has served as judge pro tempore in First City Court. He has been an arbitrator and mediator in over 300 civil disputes. He is a member of the ADR Section of Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association and American Trial Lawyers Association as well as the American Arbitration Association and the American Healthcare Lawyer’s Association.
